Drawing Closer by Kathryn Fincher ~
HEBREWS 10:22a   "...let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."



 


A young friend of artist
Kathy Fincher, Hannah Hulsey, was the inspiration for Drawing Closer.  The photo shoot for this painting was taken when Hannah was 7 years old; today she is in high school.  For many years this photograph sat in the artist’s file titled “ideas to paint” with a working title “My Diary.”  Fincher decided that although this image was not on her painting schedule, she simply wanted to paint it with the focus being on prayer journaling.


 


As the painting progressed, a kitten, Bible, golden cross, and quilt were added to the original photograph.  The title “Drawing Closer” was adopted to include a broader vision of the many aspects of drawing closer to one’s faith.  Today, Hannah continues to intimately “draw closer” in her Biblical knowledge, creativity, wisdom, companionships and faith. 


 


“Drawing Closer” celebrates not only Hannah’s developmental achievements, but also the priceless lessons that children discover by learning, sharing and expressing their faith.
